  Mum and I stayed at the Coastal Inn, Halifax, while in the city for a family reunion. The staff were friendly, the room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast nook was nice BUT the non-smoking policy is not adhered to. I saw one sign by the front desk declaring the Inn as non-smoking. The morning of the reunion, mum and I step onto the elevator and we are suddenly engulfed in cigarette smoke that was left behind on an empty elevator. To prevent an asthma attack, I quickly reach for something to prevent more smoke going into my lungs but it was too late. By the time we reached our room I needed my puffer. Running out of time, we went to the drug store. I had to get an emergency puffer costing us $42.00. By the time I got the medication I had no voice because I couldn't get enough air into my lungs. All this for what? For someone to have a cigarette in a hotel with a non-smoking policy. We informed the woman at the front desk what happened but all I heard were excuses, there was no apology. I suggest posting more signs around the hotel reminding guests of the non-smoking policy. This suggestion would be better than another guest or staff member experiencing what I had to go through.

  Room was clean and quiet, pricing was good for out of season. The staff was helpful and friendly, I missed the breakfast so I can't really speak to that. The location is close to amenities and a short drive to the city. I would recommend for travelers passing through and looking for a decently priced comfortable place to spend the night.

  Clean room, very comfortable bed. Breakfast was okay-cereal, waffles, toast, eggs, susage, 2 options for fruit juice, tea or coffee. No fruits though. Friendly staff. Close to shopping and food areas. Didn't explore the pool, but heard persons having fun! Very quiet.

  Loved the stay. Great service. Clean rooms. Wpuld definately recomend. Great price :) Very friendly and helpful staff
